How to clean a leather jacket

Most of us in the wardrobe probably have a leather jacket that has many advantages. It perfectly warms in cold weather, reliably protecting it from rain and wind. Plus, this clothing is practical and durable. To tear the leather jacket, you must make a truly titanic effort. The only drawback that this product possesses is that over time the surface of the jacket becomes dirty, and the clothes get a very untidy, greasy appearance.

If the dirt is small, you can try to get rid of them with the help of a sponge and soapy water .Such a remedy perfectly removes dust and fat, eliminating the characteristic glossy shine on the elbows, collar and near the pockets. However, it should be borne in mind that the damp skin has a tendency to stretch, so it is necessary to handle the jacket very carefully, taking care that the product is not deformed. After this, you should wipe the skin with a sponge soaked in running water so that after drying on the clothes there are no characteristic whitish divorces

. Then it should be armed with a soft dry cloth and remove the moisture from the surface of the jacket. The skin absorbs water easily enough, so do not be surprised that after cleaning the jacket will noticeably become heavier. However, in order that it is not subsequently deformed, it is worth drying it in a room for 24 hours at room temperature, hanging it on an ordinary hanger.

If the jacket has oily stains or traces of paint , then you can get rid of them with conventional gasoline or white spirit. To do this, it should be moistened with a soft cloth and gently wipe the contaminated area. Particularly should not be diligent, because such a means can wash off the skin and part of the paint used to tint the product, as a result of which bright spots may remain on the surface of the jacket. As for the unpleasant odor that remains after such a cleansing, then it can be removed in a rather simple way if you wipe the previously cleaned skin with a fresh orange peel. However, it should be taken into account that it can only be used for dark jackets: on light skin, essential oils that are part of the orange, can leave characteristic yellow divorces. As for stains from ink and ballpoint pens, they can be removed quite easily with the help of ordinary medical alcohol. However, if it is a skin of a very delicate dressing and, moreover, intensely colored, then in this case it is best to use vodka, which will help to carefully take care of the product.

A dark-skinned leather jacket can be effectively cleaned of dirt with lemon juice , moistening cotton swabs in it and thoroughly wiping the most greasy places. In case you want not only to remove the contamination, but also to restore the skin to its former softness, it is worth diluting 1 teaspoon of glycerin in 100 ml of warm water and treating the jacket with the mixture obtained. With regard to products made of light leather, which is very difficult to care for, it is possible to remove dirt from such a jacket with the help of regular milk, which should be carefully processed throughout the jacket. In order to return the skin softness and elasticity, you can add a little turpentine to the milk. However, after cleaning the jacket must be treated with a colorless cream for shoes, otherwise the skin will become rough and harsh. For these purposes, you can also use egg white, which should be beaten to foam, carefully applied with a brush or cotton swab, and after 5-7 minutes, remove using a damp sponge.
